Once again, I am very honoured to be a finalist in the Holmes Realistic Bird Art Prize. My entry, “Garden Visitors” is a pair of pale headed rosellas that often visit my garden. They are gorgeous little things, fairly shy, that love to eat our weeds (a good excuse not to mow too often!) This work is a quilt, with the birds free motion machine embroidered separately, then appliqued on to the hand dyed background along with the branches and leaves. The exhibition will be from Thursday 18 November until Sunday 12 December, and I can’t wait to see all the finalists hanging at Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve Centre, it is always a fabulous exhibition.
