For my latest birds, I decided to do the colourful Major Mitchell Cockatoos, also known as pink cockatoos. They don’t come native to my part of Australia, but they can be kept caged as pets, so I have seen them in real life. I wanted a nice fun vibrant piece, and hopefully that’s what I got. This one is appliqued and machine embroidered, then mounted onto a canvas. It’s quite liberating not having to quilt backgrounds, so I am very much enjoying this type of process and have been doing lots of it.
