I have been revisiting an “old friend” these last few weeks. In 2003,I made a large quilt with 4 chinese dragons on, which won a first prize, pictorial section, in the Qld Quilt Show. I have re-made 2 of the dragons and will be running workshops teaching others to make these lovely creatures. They are lots of fun, and use lots of techniques including simple fabric painting, simple free motion embroidery, curved piecing from the top (no tricky seams), satin stitch applique, couching and machine trapunto. Next month I will be teaching this at my quilting group, and after that, I will be available to other groups if anybody out there wants me! The dragon pictured is the Water Dragon, and the second option is the Earth Dragon (the bottom left hand corner one)
